Choi Xooang

Keeping along the lines of sculpture and painting, I have to bring up the work of Chio Xooang. These strange pieces always seem to be a mix of beauty and the grotesque, some sort of deformed creature, that is uncomfortably appealing. The contrast between the naked and plain areas of the body on his pieces, alongside the intricately detailed and 'soft' features protruding from them makes for some incredibly unique work.

The soft skin tones are definitely something I could learn from, and apply to my own work when building busts/armatures/etc. Plus there is also something to be taken from the stark contrast within his pieces that could be applied within the style of my own work. It gives a unique edge to the pieces, making you a little uncomfortable, but still enjoying the visual aesthetic of the piece.
